Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Mapbound website, interactive demo, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, "Mapbound"). By using Mapbound, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Mapbound.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these Terms. You are responsible for accurate account information, safeguarding credentials, and activity under your account.

2. Limited license

Mapbound grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for lawful, noncommercial purposes, subject to these Terms and applicable app-store rules. You may not copy, sell, reverse engineer, interfere with, or exploit Mapbound except where applicable law expressly permits it.

3. Travel markings and verification

You may mark states manually. Manual markings are your personal travel record and are not independently verified. Trail Verification is optional, depends on device location and availability, and is not a guarantee of identity, presence, safety, or travel history. Never use Mapbound in a way that distracts you while driving or puts you or others at risk.

4. Your photos and content

You retain ownership of photos and content you submit. You grant Mapbound a limited, worldwide license to host, process, reproduce, crop, resize, position, and display that content only as needed to operate and improve features you request, including state-shaped photo displays, full-photo views, synchronization, and support.

You promise that you have the rights and permissions needed for submitted content, including permission from people shown where required. Do not upload illegal, harmful, infringing, invasive, or abusive content. We may remove content or restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect users, Mapbound, or the law.

5. Achievements

Badges, flags, emblems, levels, XP, regional titles, milestones, confetti, and similar rewards are digital features for entertainment and personal tracking. They have no cash value, are not transferable, and may change as the service evolves.

6. Purchases

Mapbound may offer one-time photo-state unlocks and bundles. Planned U.S. prices are $0.99 for one state, $3.99 for five states, $10.99 for fifteen states, and $35.99 for all fifty states, with a possible discounted price to unlock remaining states based on prior eligible purchases. Actual price, currency, tax, product type, and availability are shown by Apple App Store or Google Play at checkout and control the transaction.

Purchases are processed by the storefront, not directly by Mapbound. Restores, refunds, family sharing, and cross-platform availability depend on the storefront, product configuration, and applicable law. See our Purchase & Refund Policy.

7. Acceptable use

You may not misuse Mapbound; access another person’s account; upload malware; scrape or disrupt the service; evade purchase controls; impersonate others; violate privacy or intellectual-property rights; or use Mapbound for unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, or abusive activity.

8. Mapbound ownership

Mapbound, its logo, software, design, text, artwork, and other materials—excluding your content—are owned by Mapbound or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. No rights are granted except the limited license stated above.

9. Third-party services and app stores

Mapbound may rely on device services, maps, hosting, authentication, analytics, storage, Apple, Google, or other providers. Their terms and privacy practices may also apply. Apple and Google are not responsible for Mapbound except as required by their own terms or applicable law.

10. Availability, changes, and termination

Features may be added, changed, suspended, or discontinued. We may restrict or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk, or misuse the service. You may stop using Mapbound or request account deletion at any time. Provisions that logically should survive termination will survive.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mapbound is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, perfect accuracy, permanent storage, or that location, photo positioning, achievements, or other features will always work as expected. Mapbound is not a navigation, emergency, travel-safety, or identity-verification service.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mapbound and its owners, affiliates, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from your use of Mapbound. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Mapbound from claims, losses, and expenses arising from your content, misuse of the service, or violation of these Terms or another person’s rights.

14. Governing rules and disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law, without overriding consumer protections that apply where you live. Before filing a formal claim, please contact us and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally. You may also have rights through your app storefront or local consumer authority.

15. General terms

If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a business transaction. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and posted purchase terms form the agreement between you and Mapbound for the service.

16. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms. Continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept them, where permitted by law. For questions, email help@mapboundapp.com.
